Our objective at The Very Good Butchers is to produce organic, wholesome, real food without tricks or gimmicks. We want to make healthy planet friendly meat alternatives that are accessible to omnivores, vegetarians and vegans. We simply want to provide wholesome food for everyone to enjoy.
We ran a successful Kickstarter to help fund expansion. We are using Backer Kit to help us fulfill and manage all the Kickstarter orders.

Hi there, As you may be aware we've been struggling to "meat" demand for our product ever since opening. We've decided to expand and in order to do that we need to raise some capital.
While we've talked to a number of investors, we really wanted this opportunity to be available to everyone. Since our Kickstarter was so much fun we decided to do something similar and launch a FrontFundr campaign. It's similar to Kickstarter but you actually get equity (an investment) in our company.
You can learn more on our FrontFundr Coming Soon page which is now live. We're planning on launching the campaign towards the middle of June.
We're encouraging everyone to "Reserve" the amount they'd like to invest.

Hi Everyone, It's been awhile since our last update.
95% of the Kickstarter orders have been fulfilled. We are still waiting to hear back from a few backers who haven't completed their surveys yet.

We've got a few bits and pieces left to wrap this project up.
First, a Virtual High Five for all of you!! Thank you so much for your support and patience. You've helped us grow and expand significantly in the past 6 months and we couldn't have done it without you.
So, What's next for The Very Good Butchers? Well, we have a few exciting things on the horizon.
#1 The Very Good Butchers head to Vancouver We are hoping to open a 2nd location in Vancouver by the end of the year. It will be a similar concept to our Victoria location. We're hoping to also build a bigger production facility in Vancouver (ideally at the same location). We've already started looking for a good space and will be launching a FrontFundr campaign in the coming weeks to help fund this expansion.
#2 Online Shipping via The Monthly Meat Club We've finally re-enabled online ordering and shipping. We wanted to get all of the Kickstarter orders fulfilled before doing this. We learnt a lot about shipping meat over the course of the Kickstarter and are confident that we've now got a good solution. Initially we'll just be shipping out once a month to people in Canada. As we expand, we plan on offering more boxes/options and hopefully opening up shipments to the U.S.

We've got about 20 U.S. orders left which we'll be shipping out this coming Monday. After that there's a few other special orders and then we're done!!

U.S. Shipping Update!

Hi Everyone, Last Tuesday we shipped our biggest batch of orders to date. 65 lovingly packed orders were sent to our friends south of the border.
Two days later all 65 packages were returned.
Unfortunately there were a few minor discrepancies between the stated weight of some of our boxes (2.5kg) vs. the actual weight (2.4kg). Because of this, customs decided to send the whole shipment back. This was especially frustrating as we'd shipped 40 U.S. orders the week before without any issues.
We got everything back from Canada Post and immediately put it back in the walk in freezer. All of the food is still good but we need to reprint all of the labels with super correct weight and send them out again. We've been working on that over the past few days and hope to ship all 65 orders out (plus a few new ones) again tomorrow morning.
We should be shipping out the remaining 60 U.S. orders the following Monday (January 29th). After that, we'll be double checking everything to make sure we haven't missed anyone and ensuring everyone received everything and is happy with their order :)
